The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET 2026) is the primary gateway to engineering and pharmacy colleges in Maharashtra. The PCM exam is scheduled April 11–19, 2026(Session 1) and May 14–17 (Session 2). With 4.22 lakh PCM candidates in 2025 competing for approximately 1.30 lakh engineering seats across 400+ colleges via the Centralized Admission Process (CAP), understanding where your marks place you is critical.
Unlike NEET (single-shift, no normalization), MHT CET uses multi-shift NTA-style normalization. Raw marks from different difficulty shifts are equated before percentile calculation. This is why the same 130 marks can give 99.50 percentile in one year and 99.48 in another — small variance, but notable at the top end where COEP and VJTI seats are decided. Your rank is derived from percentile, not raw marks.
The most important insight: no negative marking in MHT CET (+2 per correct, 0 wrong). This fundamentally changes strategy — you should attempt every single question. A student who attempts 180/200 questions at 80% accuracy scores 144 marks. One who attempts only 150 at 90% accuracy scores 135 marks. Attempt all.

| Maximum Marks | 200 (PCM) | 300 |
| Normalization | Yes (NTA-style, multi-shift) | Yes (NTA equi-percentile) |
| Who Should Appear | Maharashtra domicile students | All India + MH students for NITs |
